The Kano State Fire Service, says no fewer than 167 lives were saved and goods worth N100 million rescued from 22 fire outbreaks in the state in August.
According to Vanguard News The Director , State Fire Service, Alhaji Rilwan Mustapha , disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.
He said the estimated property destroyed by fire during the period at N17,000.
“We received 117 rescue calls and 23 false alarms from members of the public during the period under review,” he said.
Rilwan, however, regretted that nine lives were lost during the incidents.
He advised the general public to always be careful with electrical appliances and to stop storing petrol in their shops and houses.
