An 18-year-old boy who had just graduated from Carter High School, Texas, USA, was murdered hours later as he went out to party with friends in celebration of the big moment.
The teen, identified as LeDajrick Cox, was reportedly partying with his buddies in Texas when he was murdered in cold blood. Sources privy to the gruesome incident say he was killed as he tried to save a girl who was being harassed by three mysterious men.
“I know my son was only trying to do what is right. He always stick out for others and I know he was there to help that poor girl,” Reginald Henry, Cox’s father, told local news outlet.
Cox was allegedly attacked alongside his three friends but he is the one who chose to take the bullet for the rest.
According to the police, the girl he was trying to defend was allegedly being harassed by three strange men in a Kia Optima as she headed to a store nearby.
Cox’s buddies then allegedly engaged the three men in a heated exchange as they attempted to scare them off. But when the situation started getting out of hand, Cox intervened to try and cool down the temperatures.
The four buddies (Cox and his three friends) then took off in their car. The guys in Kia Optima trailed them and moments later gunshots were heard.
“The teen and his friends were attacked. Cox was shot in the head. He succumbed to the wounds at Parkland Hospital in Dallas,” the police said in a statement.
Investigations are still ongoing. The authorities are requesting anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.
